Entrance Requirements

If the following requirements are met, please fill out our registration form or call us to enroll for our next session.

Virginia Residents

  • All applicants must have a high school diploma or its equivalent, and a minimum of 5 years experience as an investigator, detective or experience in a behavioral science related field acceptable to the Department.
  • Two years of experience shall be waived by applicants with an associate degree from an accredited college or university.
  • All five years of experience shall be waived for applicants with a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Non-Virginia Residents

You will be accepted if you meet the licensing requirements of your state. Check with your State Licensing Agency. If you need help finding information about your state visit the APA's State Licensing Boards page.

Upcoming Training

400 Hour Polygraph Training

This 400 Hour course will be held at the Hampton Roads Criminal Justice Academy.
